Prostate Cancer

“According to the NHS, the most common form of cancer in men is prostate cancer. The cancer develops slowly and commonly does not present any obvious symptoms; as a result, many sufferers are misdiagnosed. If you are the victim of misdiagnosis, contact Lance Mason today.”

What Is Prostate Cancer & What Are The Symptoms?

The prostate is a gland surrounding the neck of the bladder in males. Prostate cancer develops when cells in the prostate become cancerous and begin to grow abnormally. The cancer itself develops very slowly and there may be no symptoms for a considerable amount of time. However, typical symptoms are as follows:

  • Feeling the need to strain when urinating
  • Feeling the need to urinate even after you have finished urinating
  • The increased need to urinate
  • A weak stream of urine

If you experience any of the symptoms listed above, it is important that you visit your GP.

Who Is Vulnerable To Prostate Cancer?

You may be at risk if:

  • You are aged 50 or older
  • You are of African descent. Medical professionals still do not understand why this is but men of African descent are statistically more likely to suffer from prostate cancer
  • You have a history of prostate cancer in your family

When Can I Claim?

Prostate cancer is very serious and can be a very aggressive disease. If you are displaying symptoms of prostate cancer, it is important that your GP carries out certain tests. Early detection of the disease has a significant impact on the prognosis. Therefore, misdiagnosis could cause a lot of unnecessary suffering and could even lower your chances of survival. If you feel your medical care has been inappropriate or if you have been wrongly diagnosed, you may be able to claim compensation.
