What Is Acoustic Shock & What Are The Symptoms?

Acoustic shock can be caused by a loud, unexpected noise. The Control of Noise at Work Regulations 2005 is designed to protect people that work in an environment with noise levels over 80dB. Unfortunately, acoustic shock still occurs in the workplace.

Symptoms of acoustic shock include:

  • Discomfort or pain around the ears
  • Muffled hearing
  • Nausea/dizziness
  • Unexplained fatigue

If you are experiencing any of these symptoms, you may be suffering from acoustic shock and it is important that you visit your GP as soon as possible.
