Skin Conditions & Dermatitis

“Dermatitis and other skin conditions can be caused by poor conditions at work. Lance Mason can explain if you are entitled to claim and help you take the first few steps to seeking the compensation you deserve.”

Symptoms & Causes

Symptoms of Dermatitis and other similar skin conditions may include dry, itchy and inflamed skin. Workers, such as cleaners, painters or engineers can suffer with these symptoms as a result of exposure to hazardous chemicals and materials. These can include:

  • Detergents
  • Solvents
  • Oils
  • Chemicals
  • Latex or rubber

It is the responsibility of your employer to ensure that the appropriate steps are taken to minimise your exposure to anything that might be harmful. If your employer has not taken these steps and you are suffering with a skin condition, you may be due compensation.

What Do I Need To Make A Claim?

  • Ensure that you visit your doctor. He/she will be able to explain the cause of your symptoms and advise if the condition is the result of exposure to harmful materials/chemicals.
  • Make a list of any materials/chemicals you are exposed to at work.
  • Do your research. Try and find out if there is anyone else at work who is suffering with a similar condition.
  • Record when your symptoms started and make a note if they become worse following exposure to different substances at work. Take pictures when necessary.
