10K damages awarded for damaged hearing

Leading Lancashire law firm, Lance Mason, has secured damages of £10,000 for a 62 year old man who suffered noise induced hearing loss as a result of the heavy machinery that he operated in his twenties.

David Laird had operated noisy guillotines and industrial presses for several years for a North West sheet metal firm in the seventies and only realised that he might have a claim when he was referred for further hearing tests by his GP.

Adam Brindle at Lance Mason Solicitors specialises in dealing with industrial claims, such as noise induced hearing loss. Adam commented, “David lodged his claim with us in 2012 and, although he had worked for several companies during his career, we were able to establish which period of employment had led to the damage to his hearing.”

“The company had been taken over and changed names several times over the years, so it took us a while to research and track down the insurers, but we were still able to make the claim and David was delighted with his settlement.”

David’s story reinforces the fact that just because the damage was caused years ago, doesn’t mean you can’t make a claim. Anyone who suspects that their hearing has been damaged as a result of their occupation should consult their GP in the first instance and then register an enquiry with a specialist personal injury law firm, such as Lance Mason.
